This is Part II with Coach Bob Covey on “The History of Bakersfield College Track & Field.” Part I was “The History of Running.”
A special show for Bakersfield, CA with Coach Bob Covey who coached over 40 years. Covey was foundational to building up the X-Country and Track programs at Bakersfield Community College. “BC” was one of the top community college distance running and track programs in America for many years. The Memorial Stadium track facility at Bakersfield College was one of the first artificial track surfaces in America and hosted many legendary runners and record performances such as Jim Ryan breaking the world record for the mile, Steve Prefontaine setting multiple national records, and Marty Liquori breaking his four minute mile barrier in high school for the first time.
