If I had to name one individual responsible for steering me back into PE with an awareness that America had a huge problem in physical education, it would undoubtedly be Lt. Col. Jeff Crouch.
Jeff contacted me years ago asking me to help with PE. He was concerned as a US Army officer and American citizen about our lack of physical fitness. I literally had NO idea that PE was this bad, and quite frankly, even with a PE degree and PE teaching credential had no idea what PE was supposed to be in the first place. This initial phone conversation sent me off on a long journey and exploration that led me across the country and into Europe and into archive vaults of numerous libraries to find the truth about PE and to learn why it is critically important for our youth and our nation’s future.
In honor of Jeff who passed away of cancer in 2014, I am restoring this show to our playlist again for re-sharing because the message is even more valuable today in March 2020. Jeff joined me and Kevin Rail for an insightful show regarding the future of our youth and country. Thank you Jeff for your years of service in the US Army and for your years of teaching physical education in Idaho to hundreds of children. You changed my life, and because of this, I’m continuing your message to today’s children, “EXPECT PE!”
Please reflect on the wisdom of Lt. Col. and PE teacher Jeff Crouch from August 2012 on the importance of physical education for our youth.
