“BONNIE PRUDDEN MYOTHERAPY: A WAY TO ERASE MUSCLE PAIN AND IMPROVE ATHLETIC PERFORMANCE”
- Presenters: Lori Drummond CBPM, Diane Sutkowski
CBPM, RD, & Ron Jones, MS - Description: Dynamic Warm Up Routine , K-W Test & K-W correctives, Marching/Cross Floor Progressions for gait, plus the Myotherapy Trigger Point Release basics. *View Full Outline
- Historical Relevance: Bonnie Prudden was associated with Austrian immigrant and spinal rehab physician Dr. Hans Kraus. Kraus has been called the “Father of Sports Medicine” and was one of the premier physicians to determine the true “root causes” for most back pain which was the lack of minimal strength and minimal flexibility for daily tasks. Kraus developed a simple test for back strength and flexibility called the K-W Test with another Austrian physician named Dr. Sonja Weber. Kraus fixed back pain with corrective exercises and by using trigger point release which he found to be a major contributing factor to back dysfunction and back pain. Prudden became associated with Dr. Kraus through their mutual interest in rock climbing, mountaineering, and children’s fitness. Prudden went on to conduct thousands of K-W Tests in her long career and was one of the premier experts for correcting back-related pain with Bonnie Prudden Myotherapy trigger point release and corrective exercises. Bonnie Prudden was also the top female rock climber of her era, in fact, she is still called “the best” female rock climber of all time by some of today’s climbing experts.

Evil Munky Enterprises
- Presenter: Melody Shoenfeld
- Description: A “mace” trainer is a long handle with a weighted ball on the end. Maces are medieval-looking fitness tools that often use circular patterns which require lots of shoulder mobility and whole body stability. Leaning and reaching movements were also covered along with regressions and progressions.
- Historical Relevance: Maces have been around for hundreds of years. Women used them in the 1800s for fitness conditioning as well.

“Sensory Motor Prep Using the Foam Roller”
- Presenter: Stacy Barrows, PT, GCFP,PMA®-CPT
- Description: Every trainer and coach knows that proper form is the key to optimal athletic performance. But maintaining correct alignment, body position, balance and breathing during exercise requires a well-developed kinesthetic sensibility that does not come naturally to all but the most gifted athletes. Foam rollers are a key way to employ this form of movement education and were originally designed for this use. We will play with the Smartroller®, a foam roller specifically designed for this purpose. Learn how using foam rollers with a Feldenkrais® approach cultivates a better body awareness and helps you find new ways to move as seamlessly as possible.
- Historical Relevance: The focus on “quality movement” was very prominent with previous generations such as found in today’s Feldenkrais approach and so was the value of soft tissue quality.

“SmartFlex Neurokinetic Tool”
- Presenter: Philippe Til & Patrick Hartsell
Description: The effectiveness of the SmartFlex™ revolves around maximized muscle recruitment (a concept called hyper irradiation). A major Southern California University study shows up to 95% increased activation in the muscle fibers from the features of The SmartFlex™, compared with the same traditional exercises, without those features. Basic exercises and practical applications will be taught. - Historical Relevance: There is a rich history with long staff, wand, and rifle drills. The SmartFlex pulls off history with an added technological benefit to provide neurological “activation” of muscles for enhanced performance, corrective exercise, and even pain management.

“World Calisthenics Organization”
- Presenters: Kenneth Gallarzo & Brendan Cosso
- Description: The relevance of Calisthenics in society will be emphasized and how the current calisthenics movement can inspire people to move and be healthy along with the many benefits of natural movements and how they can be incorporated into everyone’s lives. Skills on and off the ground will take your physical and mental development to the a whole new level in Calisthenics and can generate massive power, coordination and balance, protect the joints, chisel an amazing physique, and build tendon integrity while also creating greater range of motion.
- Historical Relevance: “Off The Ground” training was quite prominent in American fitness from the mid 1800s until around 1920. There are many added benefits to off ground training due to gravitational force. Past generations were far more fit due to their extensive use of off the ground training, so learning some of these historical methods has high value for fitness and quality of movement.
